Ram's Perspective
Just another blog portraying a 23 year old software engineer's view on anything, everything and nothing

Justified!!!

The year was 1998, on a summer afternoon i had my English class, since we were CBSE we had some interactive sessions in our classes. My english mam Ranganaayaki told us that we ll be discussing a chapter on Brain drain (export of gud brains from India as soon as their education is over). She had brought one of her relatives to the class, that guy was a former IITian and a Phd holder from Michigan University who is working there. He spoke about many differences between the education system in USA and India, he didnt brag much. The class was over and we left usually, i thought that he is a "Nandri ketta jenmam", he learnt here in the best institution of the country and without contributing to his motherland he left abroad and works for the betterment of another nation by doing some research there. My life made me realise that he had made a correct decision to leave this country and i am a fool. I realised it a number of times, some of those were....

My engineering counselling-> i had only Chemical engg./Geo informatics in Anna University, the guy who came back 10 ranks after me was offered a better course in Anna Univ jus because he was born to a mother and father of some other caste.

When my friend who was so poor and perfectly eligible for scholarship from govt. was not given what he deserved just because he was born to a father and mother of BC, but other guys who are economically better than him got a scholarship because they are MBC.

A couple of days back when i heard that the govt. is planning for reservation in IITs and IIMs, now i strongly believe that guys like the one i have mentioned above are doing the right thing because they dont get what they deserve here in this country.The govt. has justified the actions of these guys.At the same time we should consider that tribal ppl do not get the same facilities as we do, so they definitely need a reservation to come up in their life and this reservation shud limit itself to ordinary institutions, but except for them reservation shud' be abolished(solli enna prayojanam).

If we are going to continue on the same path, India 2020 la mattum illa, 4040 la kooda ippadiye thaan irukkum. People who quote the Share market and cell phone revolution to argue that we are developing.please keep in mind that the development happening now is purely because of software boom and some foreign investments which will not be persistent.The true development happens only when there is no such discriminations based on caste, religion,language and all are treated equally.

Disclaimer: I am not against any caste or sect of this society nor i am against India.
Oru varuthapatta Indianoda feelings avlodhaan.

  • even I am against reservation quotas, ennai porutha varaikum, instead of making it caste or sect oriented, the reservations could be made for the extreme poor and rural folks. Neenga solra madhiri tribal sect-ku tharalam, provided they indeed want to grow up in life and are good in education. 40% vangittu engg-la reservation-na I dont think that is fair.

  • @usha,
    Read my comments on Paurna's blog. Do you think is possible to implement a economic status based reservation system?
    @nallavan,
    They ll speak about patriotism because they are earning too much in this country in politics. So they ll talk anything and do anything to be in power and earn money.

  • Snow in Chennai will take millions of yrs and even an ice age, but this requires a small change in the mentality of indviduals. Lets hope this will happen soon.

  • neenga solluradu 100% right.

  • ippodhan unga question parthen, well, in my opinion it wont be possible to form an economic based reservation system coz ippo caste reservation partheenga-na, people get the certificate that they are SC/ST or whatever inspite of being wealthy. So it would be easier for them to show lesser income and get the same benefit. Naadu andha madhiri! I would second your proposal based on the guarantee that this is implemented 100% and there are genuine officials like the school principals or tax officials vouching for the financial position.
