Went for Thiruvilayadal Aarambam last week. Kasi theater after a long time, just went by the tea shop nearby and had to see the following posters. Since there was no light and my mobile cam is bad, did some tone correction to display the text.Actually the next night was "Vaikunta Ekadasi", as per puranas people who remain awake for the whole night will attain salvation. The poster was regarding the screening of mega hit movies throughout the night in lieu of Vaikunta Ekadasi to keep ourselves awake. i.e. the cinemas facilitate us to attain salvation. Cudnt stop laughing at these posters. Special offers were also introduced like 3 movies in a single ticket etc. Theatres do business and they ll do their part to attract audiences, but is there any rationale behind this?
Is there going to be any use if we remain awake throughout the night by seeing Nayan's navel and Asin's assets? This is a clear illustration of how we have misunderstood ancient scriptures. Our ancestors have mentioned this so that we will think about God and his prowess thru' Bhajans, pujas etc to attain salvation. But what we are doing now is inverse. Just asked to myself "Idhudhaan Moodanambikaiyo?"
P.S:- I am an Aathigan.
