Vallavaa ennai vellava!!!!

Thursday, October 26, 2006

A Series of Unfortunate Events occured in my life a couple of days b4. Had some junk work in office, drenched in rain. And finally watched Vallavan. After 3 and 1/2 hours of movie watching, tried hard to figure out the story and its purpose, after 48 hours cudnt find an answer. We all know that Simbu wants to be the next superstar of Tamil cinema, whether or not he is fit to be. Vallavan is not about love, action, romance, sex. It is about SIMBU and his fantasies or hallucinations.
The movie starts with the Manmadhan like music, i was very upset that i missed the Littel Super Star animation :-). Then comes the inroduction scene, Sandhya, Santhaanam and every body keeps searching for Valla a.k.a Vazhuvan a.k.a Vallavan. Suddenly Sandhya remembers that it is Children's Day. Then comes the intro song of our thalai Simbu. Lyrics goes like this "Unna edhukavum enna edhukavum evanum porakkavilla....." Simbu dances with young kids who will be wanna be Simbu in future. Somebody commented that "innum sinna paiyanaave irukkan da, adutha thadava KG students oda aaduvaan pola irukku, ivan eppavume Little Super star thaan", then he goes to college, as expected he is the lover boy and the smartest student in college, girls are always behind him. Then our thalai preaches about what is love? how a girl shud be etc etc...
He goes to a temple and prays GOD for a gud figure to make luv. As expected GOD shows Nayanthara before him. He decides to luv her and starts preparing 4 that. Here comes another twist in the story, since our Simbu is so smart and handsome, he doesnt wannna correct Nayanthara in his own getup, so he changes himself like a ugly idiotic guy. The getup is similar to Kalayanaraman kamal. Looks like a spoof of the former. Then he does some usual tactics like singing, getting beaten for Nayanthara, stealing chappals etc. What a way to express your love? Atlast he becomes successful as expected.(Simbu enniku thothirukaar). Then the revelation begins, Simbu shows his true face in yet another comic situation. Nayanthara as expected becomes dumbstruck and everyone is surprised by the beauty of our thalai Simbu. After some romance, Simbu seduces Nayanthara with repeated kisses and sleeps with her. The scene is so natural and Simbu has performed very well in this scene(only). No doubt that Nayanthara is an upcoming sex siren of Kollywood. At one stage Nayanthara refuses to marry Simbu bcoz he is 3 yrs younger to her and the student in the same college.
Then our hero becomes sad, depressed and starts walking on the road, suddebly he reaches his school. Then the story goes into a (must have been) superb flashback. Simbu looks younger without his moustache in school. There comes the second heroine Reema sen, she looks like Vellai vadivukkarasi in school uniform, how the hell did our thalai decide to show her as a school student. That too she is no match for our Simbu's smartness. He does everything from cleaning shoes to vomit for love. Since reema sen is dominating too much and our thalai doesnt wants to be dominated by anyone, luv breaks with some bad words between the two. The scene (must have been)was like Padayappa oonjal scene. Simbu performance chance ae illa(sema comedy). Reema acts like a psycho who becomes obsessed with Simbu. Then comes the worst part, movie again comes back to present time. Reema sen does some tricks to separate Nayanthara and Simbu permanently. As expected Simbu overcomes all the obstacles and succeeds in marrying Nayanthara.
Santhaanam is the only saviour who made us sit inside the theatre (excluding Nayan). Sandhya is not necessary for the movie. Somebody said "padame thevai illai da". Even though the movie didnt win any claps some dialogues by audiences won claps from others. For eg. in climax Simbu says "thappu panniten" repeatedly. One guy from audience said "Aaamam da, nee padam eduthathu thappu".
Music is not good, esp the BGM was pain to ears. Songs picturisation also lacked quality, except for Loosu Penne. The song by TR "Yammadi..." was gud dappaankuthu. Nayan does dhola dhola dance like an amoeba in the song. She is not fit like Reema. Aaaga mothathula padame oru yega comedya irundhuthu.
We were disappointed after coming out of the theater. In Manmadhan Simbu concentrated on the movie. But in Vallavan he concentrates more on how to generate build up, send messages to his co stars like Danush etc. And that is y the movie flunked. In manmadhan i saw the Simbu who had the potential to become a gud film maker after some years, but in Vallavan i see a thinking 3 much of himself Simbu.Thank God he removed the dialogue kalaaichifying Kamal(kutra unarchi pola irukku). I am not sure whether he wants to become next Rajini or Vijai. He tries imitating both of them. Why cant he be in his own? It is time for him to realise that tamil fans have matured and not ready to accept self build up movies like this. Simbu's formula for film making - pick some hot chicks from modelling industry, select some exposing costumes for them. choose a sexy heroine(more than one if required), dance with them, kiss them, sleep with them, frame some story that fits the above mentioned scenes, release it.
Eventhough he has put in a lot of efforts in directing the movie and co ordinating a team which needs to be appreciated, everything goes waste due to the poor movie. hope he comes back with a gud movie next time.........

Endru thirundhumo indha samoogam!!!

Happend to go 4 the RTO office last week. My purpose was to go there renew my LMV LLR and come back. As per the instructions from my driving school i jus went there half an hour before time. As usual the office was closed till 9:30 AM. There was a long Q of around 70 - 80 persons and i was in the 30 - 40 mark. Time passed on and we waited almost half an hour. Suddenly a gang of gals came in, some were women. They dint mind the Q, just went in and formed a separate Q. Some guys started murmuring like "Vandhutaalunga..","Ivalunga ennatha otti kizhikaporaanga.." etc. The person in the counter said that he ll receive the fees in alternate manner like a guy and a gal. We were around 100 by that time, they were just 5 or 6. Within 10 minutes all 6 of them got their job done and went to take the test. We were waiting in the same Q for the next 20 minutes. Some ppl returned empty handed since the time was over.
If you can get a LLR in 10 minutes just becoz u r a gal while other guys have been waiting for an hour, who is the weaker sex here? What was surprising is that some guys started arguing with the officers, they told "Ithanai peru nikkarenga onnu rendu ponnunga nadula vaangitu pona ennavaam?". "Are we ppl mentally retarded to stand for hours?" asked one guy. He received special treatments from the officers.

Why this kinda attitude? Arent we equal?
Are their legs gonna pain more if they stand in a Q?
Are they gonna loose their virginity if they stand in the same Q with guys?

the gals are not to be blamed, anyone who has an advantage will try to use it. It is the system that has to be blamed. I find this in many places, for eg. in a bus if we sit in a ladies seat, there ll be some one to chuck us out. But if they sit in a gents seat and we try to push them(provided they dont have a baby or not old) ppl around including gents will bark at us. Why this bias in the society?
Like Racism, Caste based discrimination etc. Sexism also has to be banned.

When i came out of the office with an LLR. thought to myself

"Porandhaalum Aambalaya Porakka Koodaathu
Appadi porandhuvitta govt. office pogakoodaathu..."
[Reminded a Chandrababu song]

I have a feeling that this doesnt happen in North India....

P.S: This post is not against Thaaikulam. Just to convey the stupid attitude of our ppl. Infact i have to share my life in the near future with a gal :-)
